Experience the beauty of the Ecuadorean Andes on horseback—without pavement or fences. Each morning brings new experiences and a chance to contemplate the beauty of the mountains and valleys. Friendly chagras, ecuadorean cowboys, usually pause from their work to greet you, to exchange news, or even to offer a drink as they wish you luck on your travels. This ride incorporates visits to the Corazon, Ruminahui, Quilindaña, and Chalupas volcanoes. And of course, you will see the majestic Cotopaxi volcano from many different angles throughout our journey. The only form of transportation during your nine-day trek will be your horse. It will be your partner throughout this adventure. The Volcano Ride includes visits to dozens of haciendas. Eight nights will be spent in haciendas; one night will be spent in the refuge on Cotopaxi. We will thoroughly explore and experience the grandeur of the Andes, marvelling at the diversity of flora, fauna, and landscape.

Those that love and work with horses are truly unique individuals. Once you gain the experience of riding, and enjoy working with and being around these lovely animals, your life is never the same again. We’re lucky to enjoy horses, and yes---we might even have a sugar cube or two in the pockets of our blue jean jacket to offer them as treats! As a rider, you know how to hold a carrot and how to lay a sugar cube flat on your hand, and you’re not worried about being bitten by a horse. Let your horse “nuzzle” you for the treat…you’re quite comfortable with the affection.
Horses are beautiful animals that have been in and around man for thousands of years. We used them first for work and transport, and now---for our enjoyment and education. EcuadorTraveler is pleased to present the true Ecuadorian Equestrian Extravaganza—an experience you’ll never, ever forget.
